Every deposit that arrives is either credited to your balance or held for a person to check. It is never dropped. When one is held we send you a message called Deposit being checked, so that a held deposit does not look like a lost one.
Why deposits are held
Most deposits are credited automatically. A deposit is held when something about it needs a human decision, for example when:
- a different coin arrived from the one the address was issued for
- the right coin arrived on a different network from the one you chose
- the figures reported by our payment provider do not agree with each other
- the payment reached a different address from the one we issued, or more arrived after we had already reviewed it
- it is one of the deposits our team checks as a matter of routine
We do not publish every rule that decides which deposits are checked, or the amounts behind them. Publishing them would show exactly how to avoid a check, which would defeat it.
What happens next
- You do not need to do anything. Our team reviews the deposit, and you get a notification and an email when it is credited.
- If it cannot be credited, we tell you why, and support can explain what happens to the funds.
- While it is held it still counts as money we owe you, and it is included in our proof of reserves.
Avoiding a hold
- Send only the coin shown on the deposit page, on the network shown. Sending on a different network is the one mistake that may not be recoverable.
- Open the deposit page before each deposit and use the address it gives you then. A transfer to an old address can still be found, but it takes longer to match to you.
- Send at least the minimum shown for the network.
If you sent a deposit that shows nowhere at all, neither credited nor being checked, open a support ticket with the amount, the network and the transaction hash.
Figures on this page are read from the platform’s current settings. Your dashboard always shows the ones that apply to your account.
